South Quay College is grateful for the many partners who collaborate with us and support our students each year. Some partners deliver an entire programme, whereas others provide support or volunteers for events.
If you or your organisation are interested in working with us, please contact Kat Brett, CEIAG Manager: firstname.lastname@example.org
The Year Here programme matches talented individuals with frontline social action placements across London. During their year, Fellows gain valuable real life experience and have the opportunity to develop innovative projects for social change. Many alumni go on to found their own social ventures. CGC have been fortunate to partner with Year Here for the past 2 years and have benefitted from the innovative and passionate energy of the Fellows who have been placed with us.
The WE movement is about creating opportunities for social change. As a WE School, South Quay College has given students the chance to be involved in acts of social change for their local community. You can read about the WE Scare Hunger campaign here.
"Before my placement at South Quay College I had never worked in Aletrantive Provision or mainstream education before and I was nervous and unsure about what it would be like. To be honest I was expecting a chaotic, stressful environment where everyone was so busy that you barely had time to notice that someone new had joined the team. But during my time there I really felt like part of the school and I definitely have the teaching staff to thank for that. From my very first day at South Quay College I was struck by the staff’s incredible ability to motivate and relate to the students. The strong, supportive team dynamic welcomes students in and I too felt invited to be part of it. I spent my time being a Learning Mentor for KS4 and a Retention Worker for KS5. Working with students in class was one of my favourite parts of the role and gave lots of variety to the work - I can safely say that no two days were the same! I especially enjoyed a weekly classroom-based project I ran called Positive Vibes Only, a peer support activity where we wrote each other 'positive vibes' and read them out together as a class. It was great to hear what the students wrote to each other and definitely inspired some of my funniest and most memorable moments at South Quay College."

"South Quay College has been an unbelievable experience. It has given me the opportunity to work with such diverse staff and students and that made the experience richer. The challenges I faced in terms of socio-economic difference added to the challenge of communication and collaboration. Also, working with such remarkable students taught me how to be compassionate and resilient in the face of adversity."
Paula Vennells, Group Chief Executive Post Office
"My day volunteering at South Quay College was an enjoyable and valuable experience. There were so many bright young students and what they achieved in the three hours through the Footwear challenge was astonishing. I'm looking forward to see how their skills progress over the coming months and I wish them well in the preparations for the Company programme."
Nicholas Kennet, Chief Executive, Financial Services & Telecoms
"Thank you for inviting us to join the South Quay College team and students on Friday for the Young Enterprise program – I found the sessions both stimulating and very humbling and could see the real difference it made to some of the students. I was impressed by the overall engagement of the students and the encouragement and patience of your team. I wish you every success as you shape the college. As I mentioned I would be delighted to assist if you feel that my experience or background is of use – either the one-on-one encouragement for an individual student that we discussed or in a more general way."
"It was great to be there again to support the students. I was glad I was able to provide advice and encouragement. One student told me about her book project and that she was looking for a publisher! Well done to you and all the staff for the support you give all your students. I hope South Quay College continues to go from strength to strength."
Belinda Haswell, EHC Co-ordinator
"I personally cannot thank you enough for the invitation. What a great evening! I couldn’t help myself the next day and tell all my colleagues what a great 'inspirational' evening that I was allowed to be part of. The speakers were amazing and your students are truly an inspiration to everyone. Thank you again and look forward to working together."
Deborah Millington, Business Support Manager, Enterprise Team - Growth & Economic Development
