ACE: Money Matters
On the 6th October 2017, South Quay College partnered with Young Enterprise, Goldman Sachs and Mastercard to educate our students on the importance of managing their personal finances.
Young Enterprise delivered an engaging and informative programme, with key points such as:
- avoiding scams and identity theft
- budgeting and savings
- credit and debt management
Students explored a series of financial choices and challenges that could be relevant to them, both now and in the future.
The students particularly engaged with the credit and debit card game, which allowed them to learn about the infrastructure of monetary banking, as well as providing an opportunity to network with volunteers from Goldman Sachs and Mastercard.
“Today was good. I didn’t know what a credit card was before. Will we do more of these events in future?” – CGC student
From our students’ feedback, there is clearly an appetite for more knowledge surrounding Money Matters, hence our push to embed financial education in our mathematics curriculum.
At South Quay College, we understand the value of financial education within an ever changing economic market. Equipped with sound financial knowledge, students can better plan ahead and make not only educated choices but strategic decisions for their futures.Back
