Introducing...South Quay College
From 1st September 2018, City Gateway College will operate under the name South Quay College. We feel that over time it will enable partners and service users to clearly differentiate between the educational services that we provide to 14-19 year olds and the essential employment skills, work-based training and apprenticeships that continue to be provided by our founding charity partner, City Gateway.
For the past six years, City Gateway College has been providing education and training to 14-19 year olds from Tower Hamlets and neighbouring boroughs. We were set up by City Gateway, a charity that has been supporting and empowering East London’s young people, women and families for almost two decades.
In recent years, the constantly evolving educational context has meant that we have had to adapt to continue to meet the needs of our students. In September 2016 we undertook a significant review of our services and have now positioned ourselves as an enterprise specialist college.
South Quay College will continue to provide alternative education to 14-16 year olds and pre-employment training to 16-19 year olds, with a focus on preparing students for adulthood - in particular, for the world of work. We are committed to growing both our pastoral support model and ACE, (Active Citizenship & Enterprise), the co-curricular programme that we launched in June 2017. It is an exciting time for us as we find innovative ways to fulfil our founding mission: to empower and enable positive, sustained outcomes in education and employment and to see individuals and communities transformed.
What does this mean for our stakeholders?
The changes will mean that from 1st September, all our digital platforms and on site physical signage will carry our new name and branding. New printed materials such as prospectuses will also be rolled out and made available to our partners in schools, colleges and the community. Email and digital communications will be redirected automatically. Our telephone numbers remain the same.
The educational programmes offered will not be affected by these changes.
If we have entered into any service level agreements with you, we will get in touch with you to amend the relevant documentation.
